Timbavati is one of my favorite safari locations. Leadwood Private Camp is a boutique lodge that is privately owned. We will have the entire camp. While the camp can accommodate up to 10 clients, we are limiting the trip to 6 clients. If desired, each client can have their own private room with en-suite bath. The camp looks out onto a beautiful river view, where, during the mid-day, we often see giraffe, bushbuck and waterbuck come down to river’s edge to drink.
As with other lodges, we will have our own private vehicle, but by limiting the group size, we will have only 2 people per row to optimize viewing and photography. Our guide, Andreas, is one of the most experienced guides within Timbavati and fully understands the needs of photographers and serious lovers of nature. We plan two game drives per day – one n the early morning and one in the late afternoon. Of course, we will have ‘sundowners’ each evening before heading out for our night game drive. They day will end with dinner and stories of the day around the campfire.
The lodge is normally ‘self-catered’, which means fully staffed with guides, room staff and kitchen personnel, but you bring in your own food for the safaris. That normally makes these really nice private lodges off-limits for Americans. Not this time! We know the owners well and we’ve organized to have the lodge coordinate cooks to plan, bring in and prepare our meals.
