The Tour Leader will be Nelis Wolmarans – Nelis is a born and bred South African wildlife photographer, whose images have covered the pages of numerous publications across the globe. His dream became reality when he started working on a private game reserve in 1999. By far the majority of his adult life has revolved around Africa’s wild animals. His passion for the bush and all creatures within, guided Nelis to work in hugely diverse areas of the wildlife industry including leading walking safaris and doing lodge management in East and Central East Africa. Nelis has done 33 treks to photograph and observe these “gentle giants” and with every trek, the excitement exceeded that of the one before.

Introduction
We are proud to present a safari in conjunction with the experts at Pangolin Photo Safaris that is arguably one of Africa’s most thrilling wildlife destinations in Africa – The Virungas in the Eastern DRC.
This 9-day wildlife photographic experience is an opportunity to photograph the Gorillas and Chimpanzees of the Virungas with specialist primate photographer Nelis Wolmarans who will lead this spectacular once in a lifetime photographic safari.
Itinerary
Day 1: 30th August 2019 KIGALI |
Arrival of your flight at Kigali International Airport. Meet and Greet assistance. You will be handed over to and warmly welcomed by our Uber Luxe Safaris representative outside customs and immigration hall. Transfer to your hotel. Have briefing about your safari at the lobby.
We will assist you with check in. A la carte dinner at the main restaurant. Overnight stay.

Day 2: 31 August 2019 KIGALI – MUSANZE & VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (Exclusive cultural village tour) |
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. 08h00: Proceed to visit The Kigali Genocide Memorial Center in Gisozi.
11h00: Have a leisurely drive to MUSANZE and VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK. Arrive and check in at the lodge, followed by lunch.
This afternoon at 15h30, you will have an exclusive photography visit to the Ibyi Iwacu Cultural village. Ibyi Iwacu is changing the traditional perception of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have reformed from living on bush meat and poaching for generations.
Return to the lodge in the evening. Leisure. 19h30: Dinner, followed by overnight.
MOUNTAIN GORILLA VIEW LODGE (FB – Lunch, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast)
Day 3: 01 September 2019 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (1st GORILLA TREK/Exclusive Cultural village tour) |
Early breakfast at the lodge. 06h30: You will proceed to the park headquarters in time for Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00. We will then transfer you to the trail head of your guided walk that begins at 08h00.
The largest gorilla group or family ever studied is in Rwanda and was led by Cantsbee (died in 2017). This was the oldest known mountain gorilla in the whole world. A gorilla family is led by a silverback. These troops also include several younger males, adult and juvenile females, and infants. In addition to providing protection to group members, silverbacks maintain order and decide all activities within their troop. They schedule feeding trips, resting time, and travel. They also father the majority of the young in the group.
After this memorable experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest. The afternoon will be at leisure.

Day 4: 02 September 2019 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (2ND GORILLA TREK/ Village walk with Theodore) |
Early breakfast at the lodge then proceed to the park headquarters in time for 2ND Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00. Your guided walk begins at 08h00. The largest gorilla group or family ever studied is in Rwanda and was led by Cantsbee (died in 2017). This was the oldest known mountain gorilla in the whole world. Day 5: 03 September 2019 MUSANZE – KIGALI (02h30 drive) QDEPART |
Breakfast at the lodge and check out. 09h00: Leisurely drive back to KIGALI. Arrive at 11h30 and visit Inema Arts Centre.
13h00: Have lunch at the Khana Kazana. 14h30: Visit the Kimironko Market and souvenir shops.
Based on flight schedule, you will be transferred to the Kigali International Airport. Bid farewell to your driver guide and proceed to check in for your outbound flight.

Gorilla permit note: Once permit is bought, it cannot be refunded or inter-changed. Before confirming the tour, please ensure that you request for availability of permits based on the number of participants.
Passenger Information:-
– In case of non-availability, we may have to reroute and provide alternative accommodation at lodges of similar category.
– Passengers should bring only soft sided bags on safaris as our vehicles have limited luggage space
– All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them throughout their travel.
TERMS OF CANCELLATION
The parties involved shall agree the specific terms of cancellation on each case.
Under the Rwanda Legislation, the Hotels and Caterers can legally levy the following cancellation charges:-
- 60-46 days prior to arrival: No charge, room release
- 45-14 days prior to arrival: 10%
- 14-07 days prior to arrival: 25%
- 07-03 days prior to arrival: 50%
- 03 days-to no show : 100%
FORCE MAJEUR CIRCUMSTANCES
In case either party suffers force majeur circumstances (that are unforeseen, inevitable and uncontrollable), such as strikes, closing of frontiers, ports and airports, bad weather, delays in departures and arrivals of the means of transportation, accidents and all services provided by a third Party, as a result of which the obligations under the present agreement cannot be fulfilled the parties shall be exonerated from their obligations without having to pay compensation for the damage caused to the other party.
